This publication makes excellent reading for anyone with an interest in such matters and provides answers to many of the frequently asked questions.

The latest guidelines cover supplementary scores where players who are unable to play in competitions are allowed to return other score cards for handicapping purposes.

A facility to allow Clubs to run a number of 9 hole competitions which would be qualifying.(at present there are no plans for Les Mielles Golf Club to organise such competitions)

Due to scores in all holes being reduced to nett double bogey (clause 19) players playing in strokeplay competitions are now encouraged to enter scores for holes completed .

A handicap reduction could still be achieved even if a player fails to complete 1 or more holes in these strokeplay competitions by completing scores in remainder of holes.

OPEN competitions..It was felt that away players in open competitions were at a disadvantage therefore for handicap purposes only a seperate CSS will now be calculated for away players in open competitions.

General play adjustments,this was commonly known as a Rule 19 however,due to number of changes in guidelines this general play adjustment is now contained in Clause 23. Information is also now more readily available for the purpose of conducting an Annual review of handicaps.

Handicap allowance in matchplay..Congu directs that in Matchplay singles the Full difference between the players handicap is used.Hampshire our County Golf Union have continued to use 3/4 difference up till now.A possible variation will be the introduction of a maximum playing handicap of 18 if a player is to receive the full difference,directives are awaited from the County Union.
