Sponsored by Ford, a full field of 216 entrants
took to the Les Mielles course on Saturday, 19th June, between 5.50am
and 2.40pm with the hope of winning a new Ford S-Max if they could get a Hole
in One on the 8th!
In bright but blustery conditions 136 gentlemen
entered the Strokeplay Competition.Gavin O’Neill set a confirmed course
record with a GROSS 64 (par 70) 7 pars 7 birdies & 1 eagle on the 13th,
despite having had 3 bogies on the front nine, he came back in 28 shots!!
Clinton Meyer (Hcp 15)
won the Strokeplay
section with a nett 65 having had 9 pars and a birdie on the 1st
hole. Second place on countback went to Ashley Reddyhoff (Hcp 7) with a nett
67.Third place was taken by Robert
Jones (Hcp 17) also with a nett 67.
In the gentlemen’s Stableford event, first
place went to junior Leo Loftsson(Hcp 19) who despite a slow round in
the final group carded 40 points with 7 pars.Second place was taken by Eddie
Burns (Hcp 20) with 38 points on a countback from 3rd placed Maurice Trigg (Hcp 24) also with 38
points.
Annette Laffoley (Hcp
17) was the winner
of the Ladies Stableford event with an excellent 41 points, some 6 points clear
of the rest of the field.In second
place relative newcomer Brona Lambert (Hcp 15) with 35 points on countback,
from third placed Sue Evans (Hcp 7) also with 35 points.
The Presentation was made in the Clubhouse and
the value of any unclaimed prizes was sent to Jersey Hospice.Players and guests enjoyed a BBQ spit-roast with
music from local band “24/Seven” after the tournament and a great time was had
by all.
